The tournament in Finland is seen as a small tournament within the Ladies European Tour (LET) including a prize money of 200k Euros.
This is the reason why this tournament is only plaid on 3 tournament days and only Top 50 play in the final field on Sunday.
3 solid rounds of 72, 69 und 72 resultet in even Par for the tournament (Par 71). I really liked the course from the beginning on. I practiced a lot before leaving for Finland. Thanks to my Caddy Mathias, who is apparently a very good ‘reader of the line on the green’ i achieved some good putts. I finished the tournament on 28th ranking, important money for the money ranking.
HOLE-IN-ONE
Saturday 28th August
I will always remember that day. My first Hole in one! Second hole, Par 3, 134 metres long. A good iron 7 and the ball went in the hole, wow. The ball piched 2 metres in front of the hole and went in, incredible experience!
This week the second re-ranking of the season will be done. I am curious to know if i happen to improve my position within the LET ranking…….

The conditions are perfect and I can practice on many great courses. It is a lot easyer to practice in South Africa then in the Engadine. My Homeclub only opens in May. There is still lots of snow.
On the other hand my coach Val Holland lifes in George. I can see here anytime and she is a great help and support.
Losone my startup
After my practice in George my first season on the Ladies European Tour is starting. In May the first tournament in Losone, Switzerland will be plade. The Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open will be my first tournament as a professional golfer.
I hope to see some of you out there on the course.
Go Switzerland!!

My training day in Losone. I saw my Coach Regine Lautens for nine holes, which gave me a go feeling. I work with Regine for many years.
Wednesday, 13. May
Pro-Am Day
It was a great round with nice people. I played six birdies and no bogies. This gave me confidence for the week.
Thursday, 14. May
Start into the tournament
I was a little nervous in the morning. But after my first drive I feelt great. Thanks to my good caddie Nati Tanno. She is a good friend a great player herself and my caddie in Losone. I finished my round at three under par.
Friday, 15. May
Birthday
A tuff day my 26th Birthday. It was raining the whole day and the conditions where not easy. I did not feel good with my swing and shot 78.
In the evening I got the message from the tour that I made the cut as last one in the feeld. Great, I was so happy.
Saturday, 16. May
Ready
Nothing to lose. One birdie and one bogie and a solide par round at the end of the day. And by the way we had no rain, that is very special for the tournament in Losone.
Sunday, 17. May
Finalday
The last day is the best to move up. That leaves every player with a good feeling for the next tournament. With a birdie on the last, I finished at two under for the day and par for the whole tournament.
My brother Mathias caddied for me, he was a great help and support.
Thanks to all my fans
It was great to have many people supporting me out there!

Today my adventure Q-School is starting by playing the pre-qualification tournament in order to reach the main field of this year’s tour school. I am very excited and looking forward to the first round of a new chapter in my life.
Sunday
4th January 2009
Arrival in La Manga, close to Murcia in Spain. It is incredibly cold, i wonder if i was still in Engadin. 4 Degrees on my way to the golf course, Brrr. I am wearing almost the same clothes as i would go skiing. Frederique Seeholzer, Zusanna Kamasova and i played a practice round on the North course, which i really like.
Monday
5th January 2009
It is still so cold and today we play the South course. This course is different to the North one, my opinion: more difficult. This does not matter for me as I am confident on my golf as i practiced a lot and i am ready to show my best golf.
Tuesday
6th January 2009
Wohoo! My first stage Caddy Sheila Gut-Lee is about to arrive. I know that this week will be a successful one – thanks to Sheila’s support, although some negative thoughts still remain in my head: Is this the right choice to pass professional? Am i strong enough to compete with all these good players?
Wednesday
7th January 2009
First round on the South course. I start without being nervous. In the end a 74 (+1) stands on the leaderboard behind my name. I achieved the first step and i am sati
Thursday
8th January 2009
Today we are playing the North course. Today i fought with my score, too bad, my long game was good, but too few putts went in. Today’s score: 74 (+3). I am disappointed but still motivated to give my best until the last round. Not easy to keep up, but i had to delete all negative thoughts immediately. I practiced another 2 hours on the putting green and i knew that tomorrow it would work out fine on the greens.
Friday
9th January 2009
Due to my good ranking i started that day again on the North Course. I still have some issues open with this course… And i really could work it out. A solid round of 68 shots (-3) That day showed me that all hard work was worth it. Great feeling and great feedbacks.
Sunday
Saturday
10th January 2009
A good golf day. No Bogeys and one birdie ended in a 72 on my scorecard. One shot below par. I got the notice that i was tied 6th on the final ranking and i was just happy. Knowing that so many good players were in the field i thought to myself: This is what i want and i do belong on the Ladies European Tour!
Sunday
11th January 2009
This day will remain in my memories for a long time. I thought i was going to rest on Sunday, but i wanted to go and practice a little bit, as the final already starts tomorrow. Also the physical fitness part should be done today. The days are just too short to do everything! My thoughts are everywhere, as i know i would like to defend my 6th ranking in the pre-qualification tournament. But the final field, is a new tournament and everything i did before would not count know anymore. On top of that my first stage caddy Sheila Gut-Lee will return to Zurich and my second stage caddy would arrive soon… BUT Dani Schaltegger would not arrive, as on his way to the airport (Engadin – ZH) he had a car accident. I was relieved when i heard that except the car, he was more or less fine. I was happy that nothing worse happened. But for me what does that mean? Shall i play without caddy? Shall i look for somebody on site? No i need somebody i do know. Therefore Andy Ruch came into my mind, a good friend and my previous caddy in Losone. As he agrees to come, i was relieved and happy.
Monday
12th January 2009
I am all by myself on the driving range and it still is very cold. I try hard to concentrate on my shots but thoughts about my golfing future always appear: What shall i do if i do not succeed? Do i get any sponsors? How do i get them? How can i plan everything? Instead of thinking about what could be i had to go back to the present. First i had to deliver 4 good rounds of golf. A 75 (+2) in the first round is good for me as i started with a Bogey, followed by a double bogey. Yes i have to admit i was nervous. But after a while i could contentrate on my game and my swing got a good rhythm.
Tuesday
13th January
With Andy at my side i started into the second round. I felt confident and i focused shot by shot. The highlights of this round were the 3 birdies on hole number 10, 11 and 12. I signed a card with a total score of -3, which motivated me to practice shortly i gave in the scorecard. Practice makes Perfect!
I had good feedbacks from people all over, which showed me that my 11th ranking was good. But nevertheless the tournament was not over and many unforseen things could still happen…..
Wednesday
14th January 2009
I did not sleep too well that night and i felt that the tension got stronger. I knew that was normal therefore still motivated. But in the end after playing 3 Bogeys i lost 10 rankings and ended up on the 21st ranking. A positive Point is that after these 3 rounds i already got the tourcard for the category 10. But i wanted more!!
Thursday
15th January 2009
Again not a good rest. I always wonder if i can make it or not and what the consequences therefore would be.
The round started pretty good, but no putt would fall. I try to loosen myself but nothing helps. The birdie putts would not fall. Everything seems to be more difficult than it already is. Then finally a birdie on hole number 12. At that time i was already +5 and i knew i had to birdie another hole to get into top 30. I forced too much and instead of a birdie i ended up with a double bogey. WHY?? I was so disappointed to finish the tournament with a +6 the last round. After a while i got back to reality…
Friday
16th January 2009
I am no more disappointed as Everything happens for a reason. I had good talks to other tour players, which encouraged me to continue… I still can play tournaments but it will get a bit more complicated as i do not have the full tour card yet. In the afternoon the caddies would play a tournament and the players would caddy for them, this was great fun.
After this round we pack up our suitcases and head back to Switzerland.
Again Home
Being home and having some distance to the qualifying school i sum up and plan my future on the Let Tour. How to get sponsors, how to finance my life in general etc etc all sorts of things which were in my mind. But one thing was clear to me: I would never return to the amateur status, it is hard to live on tour, but nothing is impossible.
Therefore i decided: I want to join the LET! Now i really have to get some sponsors and planify my next steps. I am relived for taking this decision and absolutely motivated!

I wanted to take the chance and play in the Holland Open. I travelled to Holland on Thuseday without knowing if I can play in the tournament. The evening before the tournament I got a call from the tournamentdirector that I have a spot.
Friday, 5. June
The tournament in Holland has only three tournament days. First day is the friday. The course was very narrow and extremely hard and dry. It was difficult to stop the ball on the green and to play birdies. I finished my first round with five over par.
Saturday, 6. June
The conditions got tougher on saturday because the wind was blowing quite strong. I learned from some mistakes from the previous day and improved my score by two shots. My final result was 75. But with eight over for the tournament I missed the cut by four strokes.
Preperation for the Zürich Open
I finished the tournament in Holland with one under on the second nine. This gives me a positive feeling for the upcoming event in Schönenberg. The Zürich Open is a tournament with Pro-Am format.

The tournament on monday was canceled after delaying the start several times. The golfcourse really was flooded and it was not possible to play.
Thusday, 23. June
Despite the rain, we played the game
After a delay of 90 minutes I finally could start the tournament at 11am.During the whole round the rain didn’t stop, but I tried to do my best. Thanks to caddie Nina it was easy to keep all my clubs dry. With two bogies on the three first holes I wasn’t really happy. After a nice birdie on the sixth hole I found my rhythm. My final birdie on the thirteenth hole brought me back to even par for the day.
Ranking
Best Swiss Professional
With the final score of 72 I finished on position 7 of the whole field. I was second best women, behind the star Laura Devis from England. If there was a ranking for all Swiss players I even would have won the goldmedal…..

Report on the Swiss National TV
In combination of the Zurich Open the Swiss tv broadcasted a report about my brother Martin and myself. Here you can find the report:

I received a wildcard for the Evian Masters 2009, which will start mid of July. This is a great honour for me and i am thrilled that i will get the chance to play the biggest european ladies event thanks to my previous results. Thank you Evian!!!
The Evian Masters is the biggest european tournament and stars such as Lorena Ochoa, Michelle Wie and many more will be fighting for the victory. This tournament is ranked just behind the US Open second biggest event worldwide with a prize money of 2.43 Mio. Euros.
The top 90 players of the Rolex Order of Merit (5 Wildcards included), will be showing their best golf during these 4 tournament days. After 2 days there will be a cut.
For me as a rooky golf player on the LET, this is THE event and it will definitely leave it’s footprints on my golfing future.

I liked the course in Spain from the first day on. I do also remember when I played there many years ago with the Swiss National Team. We used to have our winter training in Panoramica, because the practice facilities and the course are great. Thanks to a solid start I was in the first part of the field from the first day on. Three of my four birdies on that day were on the Par 3s.
Second Day
71 on Friday
Wth my brother Mathias as a caddie it was a perfect week. I could play without thinking to much and we were a good team. On the second day I had many pars. I could not make many putts and I had to stay very patient, which is not always easy on the golf course.
Third Day
70 again under par
On the last five holes I played three under par. Finally some putts were falling. Thanks to a new putter grip I felt very confident the whole week. And with the help of my brother with the lines it was even better. Only with a good feeling, lots of practice and confidence you can make putts on the greens.
Final Day
72 to finish
To be honest I wanted to have a great last round to be in the top 10. But it did not happen. But after a while and after I signed my score card, I did realise what happened this week. In my fourth tournament on tour I finished top 20 in a strong field. I am happy with that and with knowing I can do better.
Now I am ready fort he Evian Masters this week. On Tuesday I will play a practice round and on Wednesday the official Rolex Pro-Am. And finally I will be standing on the first Tee at the Evian Masters on the Thursday. I am looking forward to a great week of golf.

On Tuesday and Wednesday before the tournament i was able to play two practice rounds. A great course in great shape. The practice round i played with Beck Brewerton (Winner Open de Espagna) and Christina Kim (Winner of 2 LPGA Tournaments).
Thursday 23rd July
I feel confident
Thanks to a good and solid preparation and support from my former coach Regine Lautens, i started pretty well into the tournament. I needed 73 shots for the first round, which was equivalent to a tied 53th ranking.
Friday 24th July
An important day
After 2 holes, i was already +3. A bad drive leaded to a bogey and an unprecise second tee shot (Par 3) ended even in a double bogey. I did not want to give up as i still had 16 holes to go. For the whole week I had a pretty good feeling over the ball.
My balls often were close the holes but no birdie putt would fall. I told myself: Be patient, “the next one will be in”. Finally on hole number 15, i sank a 2 m putt. Followed by anther long one on 17. Then i went to 4 over. I knew i had to play a birdie on 18, if i wanted to pass the cut into the final field. I had no other choice then to hit the 18 in two. This was a good decision! I was very happy!
Saturday and Sunday 25th/26th July
Michelle Wie and Yani Tseng
The weekend i played 75 and 73, which resulted in a 69th final ranking.
It has been an incredible week, world best’s golf and me in between… I played with stars such as Michelle Wie and the world number 2 ranked Yani Tseng from Taiwan.
I had a great experience, playing this year’s Evian Masters. I learned a lot from the others and the most important: it motivates me to get better to return stronger once again.
Support
Thanks to all supporters
I never experienced so many supporters and fans to follow my golf round from start to end. Many supporters found their way to Evian to see great women’s golf. A big thank you and hopefully we see each other soon again!
http://carolinerominger.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/caroline-rominger-logo.png00jessicahttp://carolinerominger.ch/wp-content/uploads/2018/02/caroline-rominger-logo.pngjessica2009-08-25 16:05:302018-03-19 16:06:12Playing with the Stars
I started pretty good. After three holes i already was -2. A strong wind blowing from every side influenced the flight of the balls and i played a series of bogeys. Also the deep bunkers and hard greens helped for doing up and downs (chip and putt or sand and putt). My final result that day was +3, a 75.
Friday
Second Round
After an intensive practice day on thursday, i felt ready for a good round in order to enter the final field. Unfortunately the bogeys dominated my scorecard and i could not play too many birdies, which would be absolutely necessary to play on Saturday and Sunday.
Although i did not make the cut i lived a great experience on that links course and i will definitely improve certain shots for the future.
Practice
Practice and Pause for two weeks
The upcoming 2 weeks i will focus on small changes in my swing. In addition to this a lot of short game and with my physical coach Andrea Casura some physical training.
Charity
Laureus Golf Charity
On thursday i will play in Sempach, a golf charity tournament supported by the Laureus Foundation. The idea behind this tournament is to support childern, which are less privileged than we are. I am so happy that i can be part of it and support this charity with my golf.
