Evian les Bains

The place to be

Last week the legendary Evian Masters took place on the shore of Lake Geneva. Thanks to a wildcard i entered the field of the world’s best female golfers.

Result

My strength was gone…

This year my tee off shots are solid and play a big role within my strengths in my game. And thanks to good work at the gym i got some additional length on my Drives. But that week everything seemed different and put me off my concept. I only hit half the amount of the fairways i could hit. The consequence was, that i was not able to hit the second shot on the green as rough was very thick and difficult to get out. I fought so hard for each Par. The final results were 80 and 78. No chance for me to enter the final field.

Driver is on again

Regine helped me out of the Evian Masters experience i had. We figured out the reasons why i was not able to hit straight shots. Now i am back on track!

Big support from Swiss spectators

I would like to thank you all friends, family and fans who cheered my up both days in Evian. It was so nice hearing a `hopp schwyz’ here and there. I will remember these great moments for a long time.

Top 30 in Tenerife

This years Ladies Teneriffa Open was played on the Buenavista Golf Course. This course is situated at the sea shore and therefore you could expect a lot of wind. E.g. i could hit a drive of 320 meters (wind from back) and 180 meters against the wind.

Results

71, 73, 73 and 72

This week’s results were steady. I would play my third tournament in a row and qualify for the final field. Now back on Top 60 on the LET. This week 29th!

I achieved my goals of this week. It was important to me to keep my head down and play solid golf. A highlight were the Greens in Regulation i hit in the final round (16 out of 18). I had many birdie chances but too many lip outs. This time i had it in my hands togo low…

Intensive practice

After three weeks of tournaments i have 2 weeks off. I will use the time and practice on the short game and my swing (In Engadina and Zurich).

EVIAN MASTERS 2010

This week the first five WC out of 10 have been anounced for this years Evian Masters which will be played in Evian from 22 – 25 July 2010

Alexis Thompson (USA), Smriti Mehra (Indien), Mariajo Uribe (Kolumbien), Maria Verchenova (Russland) and me.

I am really happy to be in the field. The best players will play and i am part of it! This is motivation enough to practice even harder… Evian is calling.

Preparation

After last week playing the Swiss Open I left for Portugal. I had the chance to play a good practice round with Caroline Masson and Denise Charlotte Becker (German players) on Wednesday. It was very windy that day, which made the course very long. The wind was quite challenging on that hilly course. But I can say that I am used to wind, because in the Engadine at home we always have some wind on the course.

75, 70 and 79

A 75, the first tournament day I am not happy with the result. I was hitting the ball good but now putts would fall. But I was motivated and patient for the second round. Although I knew it will be tough playing in the afternoon with even more wind, then the morning. Finally some of my work payed off, some putts would fall and I could sign one of my best scores this year, a 70 (-2) under par round in a strong wind. I gave myself a chance to play the final round on Sunday. To bad I missed some fairways on Sunday and it was very difficult to make it to the green. Grrr…

Golf Rules

Funny story

On hole number eight a par three we asked for a referee. Reeferes are during the whole day on the course on golfcarts and help us players if we have questions about the rules. My flight partner was playing a shot on the par three and a spectator saw her ball about 20 meters behind the green (because she hit the cart path). But when she tried to find her ball it was gone. Luckily the spectator could tell exactly where the ball was lying and the referee gave her a free drop and she played a good par. That was very strange but also funny at the same time.

Tenerife Open

One tournament follows the next one. This week I am playing in Tenerife on a different course then last year. I do still remember my good finish last year and with that I am looking forward to this week.

Pro Am

Zurich Open

The Zurich Open is a great tournament and very well organised. Not only big shots from industry and the business but also great players from the European Golf scene. This year Thomas Björn and Darren Clark were playing the Pro-Am.

I started with a solid 73 (+1) and was ranked in the middle field. Unfortunately i played a nasty 77 (+5) the following day. I never got into the game but it has been a great preparation for the upcoming tournament in Losone, which is really important to me.

Home game

Back again in Losone, the home course of the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open. I was lucky to practice on the course already a week before and as usual the course was in great shape. Unfortunately the weather was bad and it was raining cats and dogs. The concequences were: – No Pro-Am and no first tournament day as the rain would not stop.

There was casual water all over the course and made the game almost impossible.Therefore the tournament director decided to reduce the tournament on 54 instead of 72 holes.

Something new

Start on Friday

Since i am on tour, it has been the first time in my young career that the tournament started on a Friday.This was not bothering me as i felt good and i was very comfortable with my drives and irons. The first round ended with a 73 (+1). This was close to the cut and i knew that i had to score better the next day.

Saturday & Sunday

Steady long game

My 2nd day starting time on Saturday was 14:35 pm due to heavy rain and a stunderstorm. I immediately felt comfortable with my swing and rhythm. But on the greens, putts just would not fall. On the second nine (i started on Hole Nr 10), my irons to the green got very close. So i started to birdie and i finished the second nine 33 (-2) therefore i would enter the final field and play the next day.

I knew i could make a big jump on the leaderboard if i would continue playing as the last nine holes of previous day. A 75 (+3) the last day resulted in a 57th total ranking of the tournament. Not really satisfying but i think i am very close to a good result. This gives me more drive for the upcoming tournaments.

Rotterdam

Open in Holland

At the Holland Open i hardly could find into my game. No feeling in my swing. No rhythm after nine holes but fortunately my hesitation of hitting the ball ended there and i got back on track. The next day i could continue how i finished the previous day. I felt confident and was happy with the score of +1 that day.

I was so happy that Regine Lautens was with me that week. We worked hard on various things which should help me to play my best golf in the upcoming tournaments. Especially on the mental side i think i improved a lot. I do not want to have bad feelings on the ball for swing reasons.

But this was in the past and over.

Practise in Losone

Today a week the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open takes place in the Southern part of Switzerland. I am really looking forward to it!

I will be in Losone three days before the tournament, to get used to the speed of the fantastic and fast greens.I

Rollercoaster on the golf course

Slowakei

Rounds of 77

i counted four double bogies, ten bogies , fourteen pars and eight birdies during the Slovak Open in Tale. I felt like riding a rollercoaster on the golf course. My putting was not too good, i counted 36 and 35 putts per round, quite many although i had the feeling i putt quite good.

A week before the tournament we got informed that the greens were in a bad condition. The tour added that the greenkeepers did their best out of the situation. But still they were very slow, bumpy and many spots without grass or just dirt. Not easy to putt…

Positive Thinking

Missing a cut after two 77 rounds can happen and i am thinking positive ahead. I am feeling confident due to my practice and looking forward to the tournament in Rotterdam, which will be played over 3 days.

Regine Lautens, my coach, will come to the tournament too. Wohoop!

Tournament

German Open 2010

Rounds of 72, 74, 71 and 79 resultet in a final position 55. I am happy about my performance because I played some good golf. The last nine holes i had a few bad shots in a row and could not succeed in doing up and downs for pars. But in general I did improved my short game over the last two weeks. The greens were good and fast and due to this fact I felt comfortable. My putting average was 29.5 putts per round during the tournament. This information is always available on my site during the tournaments.

Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open

Press conference

I drowe back on sunday night to zurich because I was taking part at the press confernece for the Deutsche Bank Ladies Swiss Open in Losone. Various media people were there and asking questions about the tournament and also about my plans. I am very excited to be playing in Switzerland on home soil.

Top 20 in Turkey

Turkish Ladies Open

19th Ranking

I achieved a great Top 20 ranking at last weeks Turkish Ladies Open. I am satisfied with this result as the course was not easy at all to handle.

Rounds of 75, 74 and 76 (Par 73) resulted in 19th final ranking. Only 3 players achieved a score under Par.

Analatics

Improvement

During the whole week my long game, especially the driver, were excellent. This was a great advantage to other players, as the fairways were narrow. Not as good as the woods were the short irons. I need to improve there and getting closer to the pin to being able to play some more birdies. Overall i am satisfied as the practice paid out quite well, now i will focus more on the short game, as there you make the important points.

Upcoming monday

German Open

Just closed my bag in Turkey i am already in Germany to play the German Open. This tournament will be played in Munich and i am so much looking forward to this well organised tournament.

Last year unfortunately i was not able to play this tournament, therefore i am motivated to show my best golf this year.

South Africa

Ready for the tournaments

The weeks in South Africa were very good. I had a good and intensive practice time after the first three tournaments of the Tour in Down Under. I focused especially on my short game and putting.

Spain

European Nations Cup

From the 22 -25 of April I will be playing the European Nations Cup. My final last year’s ranking, Switzerland entered in the European Nations Cup 2010. 18 countries will play for the cup. Frederique Seeholzer and myself will play two fourball- and two Valencia Double rounds. We will represent the Swiss flag as best as possible, promised.

With my car driving to Spain

Journey

A 1’500 Km journey

Last week we had some difficulties in travelling down to spain. Our flights were cancelled and we had to change our plans on very short notice. Finally we drove down to Denia by car (1 hour Southern Valencia).

My brother Mathias and my car Ford Kuga made the trip as comfortable as it was. When we checked in on Monday evening we were ready for the week to start.

Too few birdies

The tournament in Spain has been organized just in perfection. Frederique Seeholzer and i did well but the important birdie putts would not enter at all. With Scores of 71, 71, 70 and 75 we finally met the 16th ranking. It is difficult to judge on this result as there were only 18 nation participating. It was a great experience playing this event and it was great that we managed to enter the field but the field was too strong this week for us to play into a top position.
