On reserve

China

From 30th October to 1st November this year, the Suzhou Taihu Ladies will be held in China. Just a short moment until then. Unfortunately I do not know if I will be able to enter the field. Only 45 european players will be allowed to play as the rest of the slots are prereserved for the asian and us tour players. Now I need to wait before I might can organise the travel, visa, accomodation etc..

On reserve

Korea

Just shortly after China, the Ladies Korean Open will be played from 6th to 8th November in South Korea. Unfortunately also there only 45 europeans will enter the field directly. For many players this travel is more complicated to organise, so i am awaiting my chance to enter due to cancellation of european players. At the moment I am 8th reserve, we will see what will happen there.

Golf in Down Under

Top result

The final 21st ranking in New Zealand made my trip overseas as successful as it was. I could make some important steps into the Money Ranking listing of the Ladies European Tour 2010. A big advantage to the players which have not played any tournament yet .

I am looking forward to the first tournament which will be organised in Europe. It will be the Nations Cup which will be played in Spain mid April. My team mate will be Frederique Seeholzer and both of us will be representing the Swiss Nation.

Practice, practice & practice

Now i am preparing myself within the upcoming 4 weeks. The last 3 weeks tought me that i am able to keep up with the very best, but i need  to have more consistency and keep up for all 4 rounds. I am really positive about the experiences i made Down Under but nevertheless i am looking forward flying back to South Africa.

A little mistake

Starting Time: 6.50 am

First on the course

I played in the first group on Thursday morning. During the whole round i felt confident. Due to the rain the course was soken wet and this means the ball would not roll, more having a back spin on the Drive… The course therefore got very long. I even needed for second shots long irons or even woods into the greens.

The big mistake happened on the ninth hole, whereas i missed my drive… on top of that i even hit the greenbunker, which was very wet. My first bunker shot remained in the bunker and so on… in the end i had to write a tripple bogey (+3) on my scorecard, a sad ending of the round.

Starting Time

All or nothing

With mixed feelings i started the second round. I knew i had to give everything and play my best golf in order to enter the final field. I felt comfortable with my swing and i managed to play four birdies but also four bogeys which means a par round of 72 shots. I unfortunately missed the cut by three shots. And immediately i was thinking of the 9th hole of previous day where i played a tripple bogey (+3).

Positiv

Learned lesson

After each round i analyse my rounds. This time i learned the lesson that i always have to give a 100% and remain concentrated until the end of the round. If you want to succeed within Top players worldwide, this is an absolutely MUST!

Good start into 2010!

3rd round

70, two under par

Throughout the whole week a strong wind would be present on the course. Playing a score of 70 (-2) would allow me to do a big jump on the ranking upwards from 36 to the sensational 11th place. Although i had to share this ranking with other 9 players i was really happy!

4th round

Flirting with the Top 10

In the end of the tournament i can say it would have been possible to enter the top 10. But unfortuantely the score of 72 shots in my last round was not low enough to do so. But a solid 21st position within a strong field is a great achievement for me. 10 Bogies and 11 Birdies lead to a total score of (-1) for the tournament.

From winter to summer

February

Back to practice

Now, beginning of february i go back to South Africa to meet and practice with my coach. I am looking forward to get used to my new Titleis clubs (special new groves), before i play my first tournament of the year.

Until then i will be busy to get my body and my physical condition in shape. I noticed, that there is still a gap between my golf and the players which are top ranked. Therefore i took the chance to get prepared during the winter months. I feel good!

Ladies European Tour

New Zealand and Australia

The first tournament on the LET will start in february 25th in New Zealand. I am looking forward to play on a new continent i never played before.

After New Zealand the calendar sends me to Australia. I do have good memories as in Australia i already played as an amateur  the world cup in 2008. Therefore i am looking forward playing two tournaments, hopefully i will succeed as successful as in the past time as an amateur, a good sign and a big challenge.

These tournaments are a big chance for me to see where i still do have some space for improvement, perfect to get prepared for the season in Europe to start.

TOURCARD FOR 2010

Rookie of the year

Beside the money ranking, there exists also a ranking for the rookies of the year (‘Freshwomen’) on the Ladies European Tour.

Within this ranking i moved up to 11th position playing 10 events.

Ranking Switzerland

Winner Swiss Order of Merit

An important goal was to win the Titleist Order of Merit (Swiss Order of Merit), i managed to win this ranking by 25’000 points advance on second ranked Frederique Seeholzer. The big points i achieved during this year’s Tenerife Open and the Evian Masters.

Practice in the South

South Africa

Practice for the last tournaments of the season

I will be in South Africa for the next few weeks where I have perfect practice conditions. For me it is very important to stay in good shape till mid of December. I hope to play the Dubai Ladies Masters and that I will get the full tour card after that event. I hope to get the full exemption for next year, in order not to go back to Tour School back in Spain. The courses and especially the greens in South Africa are in good condition and just perfect for me to practice.

I am motivated to give a 100% for the rest of the season 2009 on the Ladies Euorpean Tour!

12th Place in Tenerife

Friday

68, best result of the day

7 Birdies!! Yes, today i played the best round of the day. My caddy and i got used to the graini and fast greens, a big difference to the first day. More putts did fall… Patience would pay out now.

Saturday

75, again three over par

Thanks to the previous round i jumped from 78th directly on 10th ranking. For the first time i was smelling top 10 ranking… i might have been too tense to swing relaxed. Too many chips remained too short and also putts would not fall. I knew i needed to play an extraordinary last round in order to get important order of merit points.

Sunday

70, two under par

9.30 am in the morning, the same starting time as the second tournament day. It was early when i arrived to the golf course but already incredibly warm. Already on the first hole i started off with a birdie. My caddy and brother Mathias had a good eye on putting lines. More birdies would follow on the holes 4, 13 and 18. Thanks to the last round i finished the tournament on 12th ranking, which is my best individual ranking on the LET so far. Thanks to the good ranking i would be able to improve my ranking which was very important. If i manage to remain within top 80, i would be able to keep my LET card for next year.

With Re-Ranking playing SAS Masters

2. Juli 2009

Donnerstag

So entstanden viele Bogies.

Lichtblick war aber der Eagle auf dem 18 Loch, auch wenn es dieses mal nicht zum Cut gereicht hat.
