12th Place in Tenerife
Praticeround and Pro-Am
The preparation for the open in Tenerife was great. I immediately felt comfortable with the course and felt good with my swing. It was difficult for me to get into the game in the beginning, especially after 2 missed cuts, but my motivation was soon back. I experienced new issues in Austria and France which i was trying to implement within the upcoming events. (including prescious tipps from my coach Regine)
75, three over par
75 (+3) was the score i signed the first tournament day. No putts would fall. The greens were really difficult as the greens were not just fast but also ‘graini’. I always needed watch the growth side of the grass. After this unlucky round i was on 78th ranking, for me it was clear, i would need to play better scores to enter the final field.
68, best result of the day
7 Birdies!! Yes, today i played the best round of the day. My caddy and i got used to the graini and fast greens, a big difference to the first day. More putts did fall… Patience would pay out now.
75, again three over par
Thanks to the previous round i jumped from 78th directly on 10th ranking. For the first time i was smelling top 10 ranking… i might have been too tense to swing relaxed. Too many chips remained too short and also putts would not fall. I knew i needed to play an extraordinary last round in order to get important order of merit points.
70, two under par
9.30 am in the morning, the same starting time as the second tournament day. It was early when i arrived to the golf course but already incredibly warm. Already on the first hole i started off with a birdie. My caddy and brother Mathias had a good eye on putting lines. More birdies would follow on the holes 4, 13 and 18. Thanks to the last round i finished the tournament on 12th ranking, which is my best individual ranking on the LET so far. Thanks to the good ranking i would be able to improve my ranking which was very important. If i manage to remain within top 80, i would be able to keep my LET card for next year.
